For three decades, singer/songwriter/producer/multi-instrumentalist Russell "Lord Russ" Brooks has indeed consistently produced his own unique brand of music which tells the tale of a life of love, adventure, and extremes.
From the purity of a sunset viewed from a tropical mountaintop to a dreaded sunrise poking through the blinds into a smoke filled den of sin, Lord Russ has experienced it and put it all into his songs, whether released under his own name, in collaboration with other artists or with his legendary band, The Aloha Steamtrain. Stylistically, Russ is equally at home swimming in a sonic sea of mellotron and sitar, synths and loops, or fuzzed out wah wah guitar and loud drums, with a voice that evokes the likes of Elvis, Iggy, Lennon, or even Don Ho.. Lyrically, Russ has always masterfully blended trippysexyfunnypoignent with the constants being purity and honesty.

On this brand-new tribute compilation, Lord Russ' admiring peers reflect back their love and respect for his music through their interpretations of his songs spanning his long career. The artists on this record have had close ties with the likes of The B52's, Miracle Legion, Van Dyke Parks, Fountains of Wayne, Scud Mountain Boys, Pixies, Pedro the Lion, The Monkees, and more. But the bigger point is that all of these artists reinterpreted these songs with so much imagination and love that one can only surmise that Lord Russ is among the most admired, respected and adored artists that these artists have come across.
