Lord Russ wrote and recorded this album on his 4-track cassette recorder in less than one month. This is a very romantic album, and all the songs are love songs. It certainly isn't the most polished Lord Russ record, but the innocent tenderness and vulnerability of the songs is undeniably endearing, and I'm Flying has perhaps some of his most powerful lyrics and songwriting to date. It was quite a juxtaposition to the music he was writing and performing with the Aloha Steamtrain at that time, which was about the Olympic-size swimming pool-full of debauchery that he swam in on a nightly basis.
If you want to hear the soul of Lord Russ asking for love and comfort, this album is for you!
